Shares of NTPC advanced by 2% to Rs191 following reports that the company plans to spin off coal mining into a separate unit where it will offer consultancy and mining services. The scrip touched an intra-day high of Rs192 and a low of Rs180 and recorded volumes of over 0.7mn shares on BSE.
