Market Commentary ..
Overall, the trend for the day appears bright. Investors are likely to get wealthier and prosperous on the eve of Diwali. We expect 6130 to be the near-term support while resistance is seen around 6230.
The world has received another large dose of liquidity from the Federal Reserve as it tries to jolt its economy out of a deep slumber. At US$600bn for the next eight months, the size what is called “QE2” is more or less in line with estimates. The big question is will it boost the US economy?
US stocks oscillated just before and after the Fed move before ending higher. European stocks slipped. Most of Asian benchmarks are up this morning.

Economy Headlines ..
± SEZ exports grew by 56% during April to September 2010(ET)
± Trade deficit narrowed to US$9bn in September, as the pace of growth of imports slowed. (BS)
± Exports grew 23% yoy to touch a two-year high of US$18bn in September. Imports grew at a faster pace of 26.1% to US$27bn. (BS)
± The Petroleum Minister has ruled out dual pricing of diesel. (BL)
± Sugar output estimate raised to 24.5mt (ET)
± Employees in the organised sector could get free insurance cover of upto Rs0.65mn from the next financial year under a scheme run by the government’s retirement fund manager(ET)
Market Commentary ..
Monday’s gains are unlikely to rollover at least at start though the overall undertone remains cautiously optimistic. Strong earnings from a few index bellwethers have lifted the mood of late. So, corporate results will continue to drive the sentiment.
The RBI is likely to hike policy rates for the sixth time in a bid to contain high inflation. But, since the markets are prepared for the move, it may not have a material impact. What the RBI officials say will be followed closely.
US mid-term elections are scheduled for Tuesday and could change the balance of power in Washington. The two-day FOMC meet also starts today but the outcome will be available only on Wednesday.
Coal India listing is slated for Thursday before the Diwali holiday. As usual, there will be ‘Mahurat Trading’ on Friday. If all goes well, the main indices could head higher. The Nifty is likely to find support in the 5950-6100 zone; resistance is expected between 6200 and 6300.
