Asian markets are trading mostly down this morning, falling for the first time in three days, led by technology companies and automakers. The Nikkei in Tokyo was down 80 points at 13,298 while the Kospi in Seoul was flat at 1760 and the Straits Times in Singapore shed 13 points to 3158.

Asian markets are trading mixed this morning. The Nikkei in Tokyo was nearly flat at 13,200 while the Hang Seng in Hong Kong gained 218 points or 0.9% at 24,090. The Kospi in Seoul advanced 0.7% at 1754 and the Straits Times in Singapore rose 0.7% at 3146.

Today, we expect a cautious opening and another choppy day with stock specific movement. Don't plunge in till some stability is seen as we expect the markets to face resistance at every rise.

Even the traded volumes continued to be sluggish with few market players staying away. Much will depend on the quarterly earnings which will kick off from second week of April. If the results fail to match up to street expectations, we may see more downside in the near term.

Asian markets are sharply higher this morning, led by banks on speculation that financial companies will be able to overcome credit market losses. The MSCI Asia Pacific Index added 3.3% to 143.19 as of 10:58 a.m. in Tokyo. All 10 industry groups advanced on the benchmark, which rose the most since March 25. An index of financial stocks led gains.
