WIPRO : Revenue for the quarter are Rs59.67bn as against Rs57bn, reflecting a Quarter on Quarter (QoQ) growth of about 5%

Today,we expect another firm opening and possibly a good end to the week. Inflation may have hit a 13-year high; but the pace has definitely slowed down. This could improve sentiment to some extent. Next trigger for the market would be the confidence vote in Parliament on July 22, which will dictate market direction. Though, global markets are showing encouraging signs, the world’s worries are not over as yet. Investors should refrain from picking up battered small cap stocks as plenty of opportunities are available in the large-cap space.

Asian stocks are in the green for the first time this week.

Asian stocks are in the green for the first time this week. Japan's Nikkei is up over a percent around the 12,900 levels.

After all the battering in recent times, US stocks improved their standards. The Dow Jones gained 277 points to close 2.5% higher. This was one of the largest one-day increases in the Dow since April 1 (this year). Of course this rally is after closing at its lowest level since July 21, 2006 on Tuesday. So nothing to get overexcited about.

The Standard & Poor's 500 added 2.5% as it bounced back from its lowest close since Nov. 2, 2005. The Nasdaq was up 3.1%. The US indices were choppy at start following a CPI (Consumer Price Index) report, which zoomed beyond 5% in the past year. This was the biggest annual jump in over 17 years.

Today,a green opening with a gap is a welcome sign after shedding over 1,400 points in the last five trading sessions.No more inflation Friday noon’s to worry about. Given the accuracy of the leaks, the information now will be available to everyone at 5pm on Thursdays. But don’t be surprised if the expectations start floating around during the last half an hour today.

FIIs remain on the sidelines. The overseas investors have to resume their shopping spree. That may take a while to happen as macroeconomic fundamentals continue to remain weak. Inflation numbers will be declared at 5pm on Thursdays starting today. This will avoid the Friday noon volatility. Oil marketing companies could be in the limelight following the fall in crude prices.

Today, we expect a flat to lower opening. The usual short-term pullback may be seen. Stay away even if there is a bounce. Nifty could test levels of 3,650 in the near term.Downgrades were more or less anticipated and Fitch revised the outlook on India’s Long-term local currency Issuer Default Rating (IDR) to Negative from Stable. Be prepared for more downgrades. The optimist may think by the time further downgrades come, it may be time for a reversal in fortunes.

After closing at its lowest level in 15 months, few are willing to bet their money at current declines. Those who get in will at best do so for some short term gains if any. Most people expect the pain to continue for a while.

Today,we expect Indian market to extend Monday’s weakness, given the plethora of negative factors, both from local and global markets. With results season underway, any negative surprise from the corporate could add more pressure on the bulls.

For now no clear trend seen. Remaining cautious at this juncture should be the right strategy. Selective buying may take place at lower levels with 3,950 and 3,850 acting as crucial support levels for Nifty.

Asian markets are mixed this morning,

In Asian markets, the Nikkei is up 1.1% while the Hang Seng has turned flat after being up nearly 200 points. the Kospi in Seoul is up 0.2% while the Straits Times in Singapore is down 0.65%. The Shanghai Composite in China is up 1.3% and the Taiex in Taiwan was down 0.4%.

Pri Market Commentary ...

Today,we expect a rebound at the opening bell after Friday's weak show. Some more short-covering-led rallies are not ruled out. Don’t get fooled by such pull-backs as there is no dearth of perceived bad news.The trend this week will hinge on a slew of variables, such as the global markets, crude oil, macro-economic data, FII flows, results and of course the political situation.

One thing is pretty difficult to attain in stock market i.e. timing of entry and exit. Last week's resilience notwithstanding, we still can't say whether a temporary bottom was reached on July 2. It’s too tough to ascertain the market's direction at this juncture.
