Today,we expect a flat to higher opening to the trading session with global markets notching up gains. Crude oil prices have slipped sharply after China decided to raise fuel prices, stoking speculation that demand from the world's second-biggest oil consumer could slow. Later in the day, inflation numbers will dictate the near term trend of the market.

We expect the inflation for the week ended June 7, 2008 to be in the range
of 9.7-9.9%. These numbers are more or less factored in. However, an even higher inflation figure could again put pressure on the bulls.

Today, we expect Tuesday’s momentum to continue. However,weakness in US market and mixed trend across the Asian markets could play spoilsport. Moreover, there could be some profit booking as the Sensex has surged by over 500 points in the two trading sessions. A host of interest rate sensitive stocks have rallied from their oversold

Today,bulls may lack the steam but after yet another tumultuous week, they would fell better seeing some green ticks across most global markets. Sentiment could also shore up from the fact that FIIs were not big sellers in the cash segment on Friday and were in fact net buyers on the F&O side. For the market to reverse the current bearish trend and sustain better levels for a long period of time, the overseas investors have to resume their shopping spree. That may take a while to happen as macroeconomic fundamentals have turned weak over the past few months and may remain so for the near term.
