Shares of L&T gained by 2.3% to Rs1342 after the company announced its Q4 results with net profit at Rs9.99bn posting 3.3% growth as against Rs9.67bn in the same period last year. The company’s net sales grew 23.6% yoy at Rs104.7bn as against to Rs84.7bn and has one-time loss of Rs1.44bn. The company announced that it would pay dividend of Rs10.50 per share.
Pre Market Commentary ..
Expectations are the growth in March quarter may have been the slowest with the economy expanding a little over 5%. Should it disappoint, some profit taking could be seen. With 28% gain in the May F&O series, the bulls seem to have managed their impulse for quite some time now. The rollover to June was around 58%, which is relatively less.
The cues from the global markets show no concerns for the day. The US market ended higher after the government’s recent debt auction saw healthy demand. The Treasury Department said it received $58.7 billion worth of bids for the $26 billion in 7-year notes offered Thursday.

Pre Market Commentary
Despite all the big gains, the market environment remains ever so fragile. It took just one bad news about a possible flu epidemic to rock investors’ confidence worldwide. But, India managed to emerge largely unscathed from the global scare over the spread of swine flu. Still, there is no scope for any complacency. We’ve already had a sharp rally. In fact, the Indian market has outperformed major world indices. There hasn’t been any meaningful correction either.
Markets across Asia and Europe were in the red over concerns the the new swine flu would spread all over.

Shares of IVRCL Infra surged by over 6% to Rs288 after the company’s Water Division bagged order worth Rs2.99bn from the Government of Bihar, Public Health Engineering Department. The scrip touched an intra-day high of Rs293 and a low of Rs278 and recorded volumes of over 0.8mn shares on BSE.

Shares of RCom surged by over 4% to Rs304 after the company announced that it received shareholders approval for the demerger of its optic fibre division and subsequent merger with wholly-owned subsidiary Reliance Infratel. The scrip touched an intra-day high of Rs308 and a low of Rs292 and recorded volumes of over 5.9mn shares on BSE.

Pre Market Commentary
The contraction did take place in the market while the expansion in the cabinet is scheduled for tomorrow. The bulls are set for a powerful start with global cues to the rescue. On the local front, the govt appears to be sending out the right signals, except for the diktat to state-run banks on rate cuts and the ban on sugar futures. Big ticket disinvestment plans in power sector firms are grabbing headlines. Efforts are on to announce the budget in time as well. FBT may be given a burial too.
In the US, consumer confidence has shot up to the highest level since September. But, home prices fell 19% in the Jan-Mar quarter yoy. In Japan, exports tumbled again in April, but the slide seems to be abating a bit. The Hang Seng has crossed 17,500. The Nikkei ended the morning session up 1.5%. Meanwhile, crude oil has risen past $62 per barrel ahead of the OPEC meet on Thursday.
